Vale do Lobo Ocean Course
18holes golf course in the Vale do Lobo Golf & Beach Resort near Almancil
Vale do Lobo is situated on the Atlantic coast in the Golden Triangle of the Algarve between Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura. It is only a five km drive from the national road EN125 in Almancil and around eight km from exit 6 of the A22 motorway.
The Ocean Course has been created by combining two old Vale do Lobo favourites, the Green nine and the Orange nine, opened between 1968 and 72. Under the direction of Rocky Roquemore from the USA the course has been upgraded to an excellent standard whilst maintaining the original spirit of its creator, Sir Henry Cotton. Already famed for its breathtaking scenic beauty, the course now offers an even more challenging 18 holes.
The front nine is located on a slightly hilly landscape which is characteristic for this area, surrounded by pine trees with sea views from several holes. The fairways of the back nine wind gently down to the shores of the Atlantic. Its signature holes are two challenging and spectacular Par 4s, the 11th and the 14th – which treat golfers to some of the most spectacular views in the Algarve - and the Par 3 15th, which runs alongside the beach .
